Family Trips To Glasgow

With the summer holidays still a good few months away you might be thinking about taking your family away on a small trip to break up the spring months and enjoy Easter in style. If you're keen to get away but don't want to spend a fortune a simple city break can keep the whole family entertained even on the tightest of budgets. One of the best cities to visit with the family has to be the people's capital of Scotland, Glasgow. Although not the capital this is the largest city in Scotland and it boasts plenty of visitor friendly activities to keep both you and the kids in high spirits.


If you're new to Glasgow it's a good idea to hop on one of the many tour buses to get your bearings of the city. This can give you a great insight to the number of things you can do here and can help you plan out your weekend so you get the best out of your time. Buying a ticket on a city tours bus will last for two days so you can jump on and off whenever you see something that takes your fancy, saving you cash on transport costs.

If you're looking for a great day out for the kids The Glasgow Science Centre should be at the top of your list. This impressive exhibition is housed in the famous Armadillo building and holds a world class Planetarium where you can while away the hours exploring the stars. There are plenty of interactive exhibits where you and the family can learn about science and the environment all whilst having tons of fun. The centre also has an IMAX theatre so you and the kids can catch the latest films on the biggest screen in Scotland.

If you're keen to spend some time outdoors head for the Botanic Gardens where you can wander around the glass houses or stroll amongst the extensive range of unusual and beautiful plants to be found there. The river Kelvin runs right through the gardens making it a beautiful spot for a family picnic or a simple walk along the riverbank. If you're looking for a little more excitement head out of the city to M and D's theme park. The park holds more than 40 different rides including five roller coasters, a big wheel and a crazy golf course so you're guaranteed to have some fun.

Getting to Glasgow couldn't be simpler with its international airport and great road and train links. There are also plenty of budget hotels Glasgow has to offer and with many of these situated slap bang in the centre you won't be missing out just because your money conscious. So whether you're just looking for a simple and relaxing day trip or a fun filled family weekend away you'll never get bored in this vibrant Scottish city.
